Many of you will already know that County Archivist Barry Groves has written 2 books about Scouting. I'd like to mention these and also a couple of other books in my library....

Barry's first book - many of our posts and group histories use the source material Barry researched for this book.

Barry's second book - the one he presented to HM Queen Elizabeth II
Suzanne Whitewood of Girl Guiding Isle of Wight also produced a Centenary Book
Where it all started. I've got a pretty old copy but it's not a first print. It was given to me by a Trefoil Guild friend of my wife.
I used this one in the 90's
Julie, my wife, used this one in the 60's

This book is the amazing true story of an American Scout who built his own nuclear reactor. Sounds like a "Young Sheldon", as in "The Big Bang Theory" on TV.

This was also given to me by a Trefoil Guild friend of my wife. My regret is that I didn't get chance to ask her how she got hold of it, but I think it was written by one of her ancestors.
It's the training notes of Leslie R Valentine, an Assistant Cub Master with 3rd Brentford Cub Pack in 1928.
With very neat handwriting...
....amazing coloured drawing....
...and incredible sketches of camp gadgets....
...and camp sites.
There's a very talented sketch of St Pauls Church, Brentford, home of the 3rd Brentford Pack.

I'm hoping to digitise the whole book in the near future.
